Consistently at the front this year, Team Virage won the team title in the final round. The two cars entered for the season are now battling it out for the drivers' championship.
Winners in Portimão and Hockenheim, Team Virage's N°1 LMP3 continued its fine run with podium finishes in Mugello and Magny-Cours. Axel Gnos and Georgios Kolovos top the overall standings. The Swiss and the Greek have 90 points, 10 more than their team-mate Sacha Lehmann, who finished the Portuguese round.
Eleven points off the lead, Daniel Macia, Raphaël Narac and Jacek Zielonka are still in the game. The N°88 trio has not been lacking in confidence, with a win in the season opener and three second places in a row. Their retirement in the Algarve is costly when it comes to the balance sheet. Mathematically, Pedro Perino (Inter Europol) could deprive them of the title. It would take a catastrophic result from the two leaders and a win for the Portuguese.
Axel Gnos: " We're approaching this weekend like any other. We need to be consistent in our work to be ready for qualifying and the race. Establishing a good set-up beforehand so that everyone feels comfortable in the car is crucial to achieving the best possible result. The Paul Ricard circuit is a great place to end the season. Fighting with the sister car is obviously special. It proves that the team is a cut above the rest thanks to two very fine crews. I'm lucky enough to be one of them.
